foreword

THE PICTURE - THE NEED
The programme we presented last year, Lean Business Excellence - Malta 2011 (details on www.scodanibbio.com/malta2011/) was a remarkable success, with multiple day workshops attended by more than 28 different entities coming from both the manufacturing and services sectors, both private and public enterprises. This was the first Lean programme of this scale ever to be launched on the islands to date.
The need for Lean principles to be adopted was further reinforced through the feedback obtained by the organisers from these participating organisations at last year's events. Some participating organisations reinforced or re-vitalised their lean practices. A few others went afresh into the lean road, launching "in-house" lean initiatives company-wide.

In the meantime the global situation has deteriorated even further: economically, financially and politically, to say the least.
The times ahead feature a recessive scenario affecting dramatically the performance and even the survival of organisations of any size and nature. The need for adopting and implementing Lean practices as the only means to face the tremendous, forthcoming challenges is greater than ever.

Hence our decision to present this year a limited number of short, interactive courses directed to illustrate basic lean principles applicable in the main business sectors - with the aim of sensitising the audience to embrace the lean philosophy before it is too late. Possibly, this is the last chance of shifting direction for those "traditional" organisations that now experience turbulence, instability and ineffectiveness as never before in their history.

Our tactics will be as follows:

The 2012 program caters for high-level personnel: from top management to high and middle level managers.
The first event is specifically engineered for top managers/directors of private and public organisations: this is what we consider the "big-bang" of our 2012 program, because without continual top management drive and support any lean initiative may actually fail.

For each of the training events below, you will find:
- a broad description of the contents
- the audience to which it is addressed
- duration, presentation date/s, price
- links: to the detailed Brochure of each event; to its Timetable; as well as to an "Online" and to a printable Registration Form

Finally, you will find a simple form for Expression of Interest in any of the listed events

We trust you will appreciate the enormous efforts behind this initiative and support it in full.

Dr Carlo Scodanibbio and Ing Joseph Micallef

NB: although this program is dedicated primarily to the Maltese industry, delegates from neighbouring Countries (such as in Southern Europe, Northern/Central Africa, Middle East, etc.) will definitely benefit from attending any of the program's events.
